Auditions for the millennial Darna will be conducted by Star Cinema, Star Magic, and Star Hunt this May 2019.
The chosen actress will replace Liza Soberano, who backed out from playing Darna due to an injury.
Star Cinema head Olivia Lamasan disclosed that several ladies have already tried out for the chance to play the Pinay super heroine.
"We’ve had several auditions from our very own artists from Star Magic,” Lamasan was quoted as saying in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
“Nagpatawag din kami from several talent scouts, modeling agencies, talent agencies. Kahit mga past contestants of beauty pageants, kahit sa field of sports — may athletes din na nakapag-audition na.”
Star Hunt is looking for females with following qualifications:
* 20 to 26 years old
* At least 5'5" in height
* With acting experience
* Fluent in Tagalog
* Physically fit
The open auditions will be held on May 4 and 5 at the ABS-CBN headquarters in Quezon City.
According to director Jerrold Tarog, he wants the Darna reboot to feature a coming-of-age story.

Yes, it's true! Controversial actor Tony Labrusca admits being a klepto in his heyday.
Tony says he used to steal food and other stuff back in Canada, but clarifies he is not proud of it.
In his guesting at "Tonight With Boy Abunda," the 23-year-old actor confesses he took some items at a convenience store in Canada without paying.
"Hindi lang sa convenience store. Dati, kailangan ko ng damit, magnanakaw din ako sa store. Kung kailangan ko ng pagkain... lahat ng feeling ko puwede kong nakawin, ninanakaw ko."
He also stole a bag before.
But when he noticed that he took a different color, he went back and stole a bigger bag to replace the bag he wanted.
On the contrary, Tony says that was in the past...
“Hindi na po ako nagnanakaw. Hindi na po ako kleptomaniac. At that point in my life, I felt my parents couldn’t give me enough to survive through the week. So I thought the only way I’m gonna eat today was steal. There [were] things that I wanted...” he said.
After the interview, Tony received negative comments on his social media account.
The actor says he was judged with his mistakes in the past.
"Some of you guys are so quick to judge. I shared my flaws on TWBA (Tonight With Boy Abunda) because I’m sharing my HUMANITY with you. It’s human to make mistakes and those mistakes teach you very valuable lessons. TRUST me I’ve experienced that first hand. I admitted to Tito Boy that I used to steal FOOD and CLOTHES I could not AFFORD. I never said it was right nor am I proud of it. NO ONE is perfect. So stop acting like it. We all make mistakes. Your mistakes aren’t what define you as a person, it’s the effort you put into changing for the better every day," he said.
In a separate interview, Tony was asked about his temper.
A very good example was the scene at the Terminal 3 of NAIA when he was only given 30 days to stay in the Philippines.
"To be completely honest, I have kind of, like, an anger issue that I had a really hard time with growing up. I think it just stemmed from feeling like I wasn’t being heard. I don’t wanna blame, like, my family, whatever. I just felt, like, growing up, I was the type of kid that always, like, in a fight or an argument, I always want my piece to be heard. I didn’t feel, like, I was always being listened to and it got to a point I was just, like, this angsty kid, who was just angry at everything. It came to a point that I don’t even know why I’m so angry. I would just like start crying. I don’t even know why I’m so upset anymore. I’m a little bit grumpy, but it’s something I’m working on," he said.
Tony has consulted a life coach and a specialist about his behavior.
"I actually go to a life coach and I went to a neurological brain doctor because I wanted to know why I was so emotional. And they told me that there’s a side of my brain which controls my emotions and it’s running on beta waves. Beta waves is like the highest frequency it can go — so I don’t really have that much control over my emotions," he said.

Veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez remains relentless in her search for her missing dad: "Of course, kahit masaya na ako sa buhay ko, kahit successful na ako, mayroon pa ring kulang sa puso ko, mayroon pa ring butas."
The last time Sylvia saw her father was when she was 10 years old.
"Kahit naman pagtanda ko, kahit anuman ang narating ko, di naman nun mapapalitan nun ang tatay ko. Tatay ko yun, e. Tine-trace na kung saan siya huling nakita. Bahala na, kung ano ang gusto ng Diyos, magkita kami o hindi."
Sylvia recently won for herself the Best Actress in the Sinag Maynila Indie film Festival for the movie "Jesusa."
The A-1 actress extends her never ending gratitude to all the people concerned.

Sylvia will soon be seen on ABS-CBN's upcoming teleserye titled "Kapalaran."
She will be paired with Joey Marquez.
“Ay, masaya! Ang saya namin! Si Joey Marquez ang leading man ko. Four times kami nagkasama sa mga pelikula, 'tapos nung solo na niya sa pelikula, ako na ang leading lady niya uli kaso nabuntis ako kay Arjo, kaya di na natuloy ang loveteam namin sa industriyang ito.”
Sylvia's son Arjo Atayde and daughter Ria Atayde are equally brilliant in terms of acting is concerned. Is there a possibility for them to do a project together?
“Yes, balak ko talaga yan. Actually, mayroong project na nilalapit sa amin, kaming tatlo pero di pa right time. Tamang timing ang kailangan, di pa yan, maybe two years from now, three yars from now. Wag muna ngayon. Masyadong maaga,” she said.
