Lopez said the police, particularly the City Investigation and Detection Unit (Cidu), are now tracking down some personalities involved in the robberies, aside from gathering more information.

Cocpo has already increased its police visibility checkpoint in anticipation of the usual crime incidents in the city.

Some 116 policemen from the Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao had also been augmented to Cocpo.

Lopez said robberies inside and outside any establishments should not be committed with a semblance of impunity and that those responsible should be dealt with in accordance with the law.

“In due time, we would arrest them. In fact, the Cidu already has a lead and right now, they’re monitoring the movement of this group,” Lopez told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

In addition to this, Lopez is set to meet with security officials of malls and other business establishments in the city to come up with stricter security measures and to coordinate efforts between the private security guards and policemen in the areas.

Lopez assured the public and owners of different business establishments that Cocpo is on top of the situation and is working hard to arrest crime suspects. (ALR)
