PDEA, Labor department join forces for drug-free workplaces

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office and the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) emphasized the guidelines for the implementation of drug-free workplace policies and programs for the private sector.

PDEA-Western Visayas chief Alex Tablate, together with Mr. Michael Gison, focal person for Drug-Free Workplace Program Policy (Dole-Western Visayas) conducted lectures.

The collaboration marks the second between PDEA and Dole in terms of strengthening the implementation of the Drug Free Workplace Policies and Programs in Western Visayas.

The first partnership catering to the same activity was initiated in the island of Boracay, Malay, Aklan during the first week of April 2019.

Meanwhile joint elements of PDEA Interdiction Team and K9 Unit, the BJMP Region VI and the Dumangas Police Station conducted surprise search and seizure operations at the BJMP Jail Facility at Dumangas, Iloilo.

Twenty-six persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were randomly selected and were subjected to a surprise drug test. The search yielded negative result for dangerous drugs.

Further last May 1, 2019, at 7:35 p.m., the same team and the PDEA Antique Provincial Office with the BJMP Regional Office 6 and Culasi Police Station conducted search and seizure operation and random drug testing at Culasi District Jail Male Dorm located at Poblacion, Culasi, Antique.

Eleven PDLs were picked at random to undergo the surprise drug test but none tested positive for illegal drug use.

At 9:30 a.m. of the same date, the PDEA Interdiction Team and K9 Unit, PDEA Antique Provincial Office, BJMP RO VI and Antique, and the PNP conducted search and seizure operation and random drug testing at San Jose District Jail Male and Female Dormitory located at Brgy. 8, San Jose, Antique.

Some 31 PDLs were picked at random to undergo the surprise drug test but none also tested positive for illegal drug use.

No illegal drugs were detected during the said greyhound operations conducted at both Culasi and San Jose District Jails. (TDE)
