BOWLING aficionados and casual gamers are expected to make their way down to SM CDO Downtown Premier as it formally launched its first SM Bowling Center in Cagayan de Oro City, Friday, May 3.
Dubbed as the “coolest place in CDO,” the SM Bowling Center, located at the fourth floor of the mall, takes cool and fun in a whole new level with its new modern industrial look and the added recreational and entertainment options apart from the bowling alley.
“Matagal nang pina-plan to (It was long been planned). We were anticipating, we were all excited to come here. Finally we’re here and we’re also very glad because as we mentioned earlier, this is the first. CDO pa yung nag pilot nung (is the pilot) innovation of the whole SM Bowling,” Christian Wong, assistant vice president for SM Sports and Leisure Centers, said.
The SM Bowling at Downtown Premier, the 10th bowling center of SM, is equipped with 14 modern synthetic lanes with BES-X Bowling system, three KTV rooms for people who love to sing, six top-class billiard tables for pool enthusiasts, four table tennis tables and an archery room.
“We’re excited to grow the sport of table tennis and also archery. And hopefully in the future, we will be able to do inter-branch competitions,” Wong said.
Bowlers and gamers can also dine while playing as SM Bowling also have Maison de Bonbon stationed near the entrance for those who want something to eat and drink to replenish their energy.
Edna Gomez-Chaves, a bowler who has been playing for more than 20 years, said she was excited and happy that Cagayan de Oro City finally has a bowling center where bowlers like her can play, compete and make friends.
“Ito kasi baguhan pa pero at least meron na tayo sa Cagayan de Oro. Kaya nagpapasalamat kami ngayon na at least, sariling atin ngayon,” she added, saying that she was only able to play bowling at the bowling alley in Xavier Estates which located in the uptown area of the city.
(This one’s new, at least we have now in Cagyaan de Oro, that’s why we are thankful that at least we have our own.)
Ferdinand Vidad, a six-year bowler of Nestle Bowlers Club, echoed Chaves as he also enjoyed his experience in SM Bowling.
“I’m expecting a lot of families and friends to come here and have fun. The vision of SM Bowling is really to bring family and friends together, that’s what we value. So while you’re having fun, you’re bonding as a family and friends, and at the same time you are able to develop values of excellence and team work and integrity while you’re having fun,” Wong said.
“That’s what really nice about this place. I don’t think any other place can offer these all at the same time. While you’re playing bowling or archery, whatever activity you want to do, I think this is the place to be,” he added.
