I LIVE each day embracing an important motto in life: “Do not stop learning because life never stops teaching.” It is my guiding principle that keeps me going.

In education, teachers do not stop learning. In fact, increasing number especially the new breed of teachers, were back to school and enroll in graduate studies to develop themselves personally and professionally.

Nowadays, teachers become competitive in terms of education. If in school, learners are taught to not be left behind, this is also true among teachers. They have learned to adapt the contemporary trends of learning.

In an interview with Rowel S. Lapiña, a teacher who has just graduated from Master of Arts in Educational Management and received an academic distinction award from the Rizal Memorial Colleges Inc., he shared his passion for learning. According to him, it is important for teachers to grow professionally because they exemplify source of knowledge which is to be transferred to their learners.

”We cannot give what we do not have. So, we should keep on learning and adapt change especially in learning new teaching principles, strategies, approaches and techniques so that we can teach in the best way that we can,” he said.

He added that schooling teachers do not only have the opportunity to learn and grow but have the edge in performance, ranking, and promotion.

Investing in education is indeed a great step in improving our lives whether for personal, professional, or economic purposes. As a teacher, I believe that through continuous education, we become learned and worthy of our profession. As the song goes, “Teachers are the purveyor of truth and light.” I am proud I am one.
