TO SHOW that Cebu deserves better, signs with the logo of “Pulihi Na, Cebu!” movement were put up in 10 different sites in Cebu City on Saturday, May 4.

While this developed, around 1,000 habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) drivers will have a motorcade on Sunday, May 5, to support the movement.

Earlier, Mayor Tomas Osmeña criticized the launching of the event for making the public believe that it was a free concert, which turned out to be a campaign sortie.

Pulihi Na, Cebu! is a movement organized by a group of businessmen and civil society to oust Osmeña.

It was launched on May 1, Labor day, during a free concert at IC3 Convention Center in Barangay Mabolo.

In a press release, the Pulihi Na, Cebu! tarpaulins were purposely set up to show the Cebuanos that Cebu deserves better than the current mayor of Cebu City who has been in the position for 30 years.

It added that the current mayor never solved the major issues such as flooding, traffic, garbage, lack of water supply, drugs, among others.

The signs were shown in 10 strategic locations in Cebu City which includes Ayala, SM City Cebu, Guadalupe (cor. V. Rama/Englis), Colon (Gaisano Metro), Kamputhaw (Escario/Gorordo), Lahug (JY), Banilad (Country Mall), Talamban (near Brgy. Hall), Cebu City Hall and Carbon Public Market.

Stickers were also given as a way for motorists to support the movement.

As to the motorcade, the activity will start in Robinsons Galleria at 1 p.m., and will pass Colon St., up to Fuente Osmeña Circle.

Another 300 motorcycle enthusiasts will roam around the city on Monday, May 6, to spread awareness of the “Pulihi Na, Cebu!” movement. (RVC)
