6 nabbed in Zamboanga anti-drug operations

POLICE arrested six drug personalities and seized some P20,000 worth of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in separate drug busts in Zamboanga City, an official said Monday, May 6.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Abubakar Adjail, Julbari Sarawi, Rowe Moratalla, Rommel Paraiso, Roger Rogicio, and Glenn Banester.

Galvez said Adjail and Sarawi were nabbed in a drug bust around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in the village of Campo Islam, Zamboanga City.

Confiscated from them were P6,800 worth of shabu packed in six heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money.

Galvez said Moratalla yielded P10,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money when arrested around 7:25 p.m. Sunday on Dimas Bayot Drive in the village of Tumaga, Zamboanga City.

She said Paraiso and Rogicio were caught in possession of some P1,000 worth of shabu and P500 marked money when arrested around 8 p.m. Sunday on Antipolo Drive in the village of Tumaga.

She said Banester was arrested around 9:15 p.m. Sunday in the village of San Jose Gusu.

Seized from Banester were P2,000 worth of shabu packed in two heat-sealed plastic sachets and P500 marked money.

Galvez said the arrested suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them.

Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, lauded the anti-drug operatives of the Zamboanga City Police Office for a job well done. (SunStar Philippines)
