PRO 7, CPPO and 7 towns get vehicles from Capitol

AROUND P46 million worth of police cars and coasters were turned over by the Provincial Government to the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) and seven towns on Monday, May 6.

The CPPO received 24 patrol cars worth P25.1 million while the seven coasters worth P20.9 million were given to the towns of Cordova, Ronda, San Fernando, Poro, Tabogon, Ginatilan and Tudela.

Based on Provincial General Services Office’s (PGSO) records, these seven towns had yet to receive coasters from the Province.

Provincial Legal Officer Orvi Ortega represented the Capitol during the turnover ceremony with the police Monday morning, while PGSO Chief Jone Siegfred Sepe attended on behalf of the Capitol officials in the afternoon.

CPPO Director Manuel Abrugena said the new patrol cars will help them in their operations, especially during the election on Monday, May 13.

He assured they will remain neutral and there was no politics involved in the turnover of police cars.

In response, Ortega said there is nothing political in the activity as both allies and non-allies of the present administration were given vehicles.

Two of the units will be distributed to the Provincial Mobile Force, three will be deployed to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, while the rest will be deployed to police stations in local government units.

These include Madridejos, San Fernando, Dalaguete, Alcoy, Balamban, Pinamungahan, Asturias, Aloguinsan, Barili, Cordova, Borbon, Poro, Tabuelan, Bantayan, Santa Fe, Danao City, Tabogon, Tudela and Toledo City.

The Capitol earlier turned over 23 patrol cars to the CPPO, which were also distributed to local police stations. (RTF)
