BFP on heightened alert

City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña said on Wednesday, May 8, that he received a directive from the national headquarters that the BFP personnel should inspect all the polling precincts before the Election Day.

“Since we are on heightened alert, the day off of our personnel will be cancelled and they were tasked to monitor all the polling precincts within their areas of jurisdiction to ensure a zero fire incident during election,” he said.

He added all the BFP’s sub-stations head were also directed to monitor the duty of their personnel.

The BFP has a total of six fire sub-stations in Bacolod.

Ploteña disclosed that he’s also waiting for the final instruction for a simulation exercise to be held in Bacolod a day before the elections with various agencies like Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and the Commission on Elections.

BCPO acting director Police Colonel Henry Binas earlier said that they are also on full alert status and several policemen were deployed in various areas.

He said that some BCPO personnel will also be deployed to Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office during elections. (MAP)
