LITTLE Boy Productions and Cebu Literary Festival are hosting several summer workshops for creatives this month.
At Robinsons Galleria Cebu, there’s a Theater Workshop for kids and another session for teens. During these workshops, kids and teens develop creativity, discipline, a sense of accomplishment, and other life skills that last long after the summer has gone. The classes for younger kids (4 to 10 years old) will focus on music and movement to channel their energies creatively. The teens class (11 to 16 years old) will introduce improvisation, creative dramatics and the basics of musical theater.
The workshops will be led by theater professionals from Manila and they bring with them their years and years of experience working in professional theater with PETA, Repertory Philippines and Trumpets.
Both workshops started May 9 and will have their recital on May 18.
At SM Seaside City Cebu: Lit Camp, Kids Bop, and Stories and Art.
The Lit Camp is a writing workshop for teens led by writers Therese Villarante and Johanna Michelle Lim. No experience required. The fun camp combines lectures, writing exercises and workshopping sessions in fiction, essay, poetry and spoken word over four Saturday afternoons. Bring a notebook, pen and paper or your laptop to write on. Get to learn about literature, why writers write, the joys of reading, how to find your own writer’s voice, while being yourself and meeting new friends in this unusual and intensive workshop! Lit Camp: Writing Workshop for Teens (10 to 18 years old) starts on May 11, 3 to 6 p.m.
Kids Bop: Singing and Movement Workshop by Little Boy Productions is a story-based music and movement workshop conducted by teaching artists from Little Boy Productions—the only theater company in Cebu that has toured productions from Manila’s top theater companies: Repertory Philippines, Atlantis Theatrical, Actor’s Actors Inc and SPIT. The Kids Bop workshop (4 to 9 years old) will start May 20, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Stories and Art: Crafts for Little Humans by Happy Garaje and Little Boy Productions is an interactive workshop of fun-filled creative exploration. Happy Garaje is the award-winning design/illustration studio comprised of husband and wife team, Mark Deutsch and Johanna Velasco.
