LTO launches extension office in E.B. Magalona

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) launched Thursday, May 9, its extension office in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The launching was led by LTO Western Visayas Regional Director Roland Ramos and E.B. Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon.

Malacon said the Municipal Government donated 1,500 square meters of lot where the LTO office will be constructed.

"We are looking at the advantages in terms of business and economy of opening the extension office of LTO in the town," Malacon said.

Ramos said E.B Magalona has been open to accommodate the extension office.

"LTO Bacolod has been congested because of the number of vehicles. With the issuance of Driver's License alone, LTO is issuing a minimum of 1,000 licenses every day. So it's time to decongest Bacolod," Ramos said.

The E.B. Magalona extension office was approved in March 2019. It is one of the biggest accomplishments of the town, as it would certainly prop up growth in the area.

"Sixty days after the opening of the extension office, I will transform the E.B. Magalona Extension Office into a complete office that would issue driver's licenses immediately like the one offered at the main LTO office," Ramos said.

"Once the construction of the building is finished we will then start the LTO Operation," Ramos added.

Malacon said that based on the memorandum of agreement signed by the Municipal Government with LTO, the building in Barangay Tabigue will be worth P5 million.

"The target date for the start of operation of the extension office will be in September this year," Malacon added.
