30 establishments in Cebu get gold

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) gave the gave the Gold Bagwis Awards to 30 establishments to 30 establishments in Cebu in 2018.

The Bagwis Seal of Excellence guides consumers in identifying stores that offer quality goods at affordable prices and good quality service.

“The DTI Bagwis Awards encourages the setting up of Consumer Welfare Desks in business establishments to provide information to consumers and serve as a mechanism for the speedy resolution of consumer complaints,” DTI 7 Director Asteria Caberte said.

All of the establishments with the Bagwis awards in Cebu were awarded with a gold seal.

In the category for supermarkets, SM Seaside Supermarket, Savemore branches in Consolacion, City of Naga, Danao City and Carcar City, and Supermetro on N. Bacalso Ave., Cebu City and in Mandaue City.

For service and repair shops, the award was given to Hyundai Cebu Inc. and Toyota branches in the cities of Talisay and Lapu-Lapu.

Under the hardware store category, Belmont Hardware Depots in Mandaue City and Cebu City received the award.

For appliance stores, Abenson branches in Mandaue City and Ayala Center Cebu were recognized.

For convenience stores, 14 7 Eleven branches in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu got the gold Bagwis seal.

The DTI said companies with the gold seal have established quality orientation management.

Caberte said they are encouraging more establishments to apply for the Bagwis Seal of Excellence to safeguard the interests of consumers and foster fair business practices.

“The Bagwis Award shall be valid for three years from date of conferment. The award is automatically revalidated through the conduct of a reassessment by the DTI that an awardee establishment is consistently complying with the Bagwis parameters within three consecutive years,” she said in a statement.
