37,436 campaign posters removed in Central Luzon

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- At least 37,436 illegal campaign posters have been removed in major thoroughfares and barangay roads in Central Luzon.

Police Brigadier General Joel Napoleon Coronel, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon, said that as the campaign period ended Saturday, May 11, the illegal campaign posters were removed as part of the previous clearing operations conducted by Commission on Elections (Comelec), Philippine National Police (PNP) and other partner agencies within the region.

Coronel said most of the campaign materials removed were oversized and posted in prohibited areas, like electric lines and trees.

He said that “it is a region-wide activity spearheaded by the Comelec with the different agencies including the PNP. We are there to provide security assistance every ‘Oplan Baklas’ operations.”

“We have always been non-partisan and we continue to implement our mandate to ensure safe and credible electoral process,” Coronel said. (Ric Sapnu)
