Kikang unfazed of Nadya in vice mayoral race

VICE Mayor Raineir Joaquin "Kikang" Uy said he is not threatened with the candidacy of incumbent City Councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe who replaced his late father in the vice-mayoralty race.

Uy said while some may give Nadya sympathy votes, he said he is still confident that the people will choose candidates based on track record.

“In terms of performance, we are not threatened because we are working, going the extra mile when providing services for the people,” he said.

“Based on record, Councilor Nadya has the most absences among all the members of the Council,” Uy said.

Uy also noted that Emano-Elipe never did hold meeting under her committee.

“Based on my observation, he is not focused, that's why I am not threatened because I am sincerely here to provide services to our people,” he said.

Uy and Emano-Elipe are the only candidates in the vice-mayoralty race.

In second Xavier University survey, Uy is still leading with 59.3 percent, followed by former mayor Vicente Emano (Padayon Pilipino) with 24.8 percent.

The survey was conducted from April 27 to May 1. It was released on May 7, the day former mayor Emano died.

Two days later, Councilor Nadya announced his vice-mayoralty bid as an official replacement of his father.

“Lisod akong kabutang kay two days na lang unya ginakampanya nako is akong amahan nga si Dongkoy as vice mayor (I am in a hard situation now that it’s only two days left before the elections, and I have been campaigning for my father, Dongkoy, as vice mayor). But whatever the outcome, I am here to fight with my party para sa katawhan (for the people),” Nadya said.
