30,000 Grupo Progreso supporters join grand rally

ABOUT 30,000 supporters of Grupo of Progreso (GP) joined the political rally of GP at the Pope John Paull II Tower at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City on Saturday, May 11.

GP was led by reelectionists Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Congressman Greg Gasataya, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran along with their 12 candidates for councilors.

GP candidates for councilor are incumbent Councilors Cindy Rojas, Renecito Novero, Dindo Ramos, Bartolome Orola, Elmer Sy and Ana Marie Palermo; former councilors Archie Baribar, Carlo Lopez and Al Espino; Barangay Singcang-Airport Kagawad Simple Distrito; young leader Israel Salanga; and broadcaster Marlon Solidum.

Executive Assistant Celistino Guara, cluster head for police matter, said about 30,000 supporters of GP attended the mass at the public plaza and marched towards the Pope John Paul II Tower at the Reclamation Area.

Leonardia said he’s thankful for all the support of their supporters.

“You are the reason that GP will win in this election. On May 13, we will make history because for the first time in the history of Bacolod that GP will win 15-0. Because of our unity, we will make history and will make 15-0 win in this election,” he said.

He added this is the first time that the incumbent mayor, vice mayor and congressman belong to the same party.

Leonardia, Familiaran and Gasataya were earlier endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte as well as by the Iglesia ni Cristo.

Leonardia also presented its accomplishments since he assumed his posts in Bacolod.

Gasataya and Familiaran also said they are thankful for their supporters, the GP’s team, and to those who endorsed them and the whole slate of GP.

“We are also thankful to our policemen who maintained the peace and order in Bacolod during the campaign period. We submit, we surrender to God our destiny on May 13 and to grant our wishes 15-0,” he said. (MAP)
