AFTER discord and division between opposing parties, outgoing San Simon Mayor Leonora Wong has called for reconciliation and unity among Simonians as the nation concluded Election Day Monday, May 13.
Wong, who cast her vote along with her children around 3 p.m. Monday, May 13, said the time for healing and reconciliation must start today to easily reach the common goal of further developing their hometown.
“Election Day is just one day. We are Simonians for the rest of the year and if we truly love our municipality, we must be united to reach our common goal of further developing it,” she said.
Wong, who is seeking the vice-mayoralty post, said unity is important to ensure the advancement of legislative measures that will benefit Simonians, especially the needy and marginalized people.
If elected as presiding officer of the Municipal Council, Wong said the local council will be united in crafting ordinances and resolutions that will help provide growth in the municipality.
“Unity is very important for us to be able to craft ordinances and resolutions that are necessary for development. As presiding officer, I will personally lead the reconciliation among all candidates, whatever parties they belonged to during the election,” she said.
