ACTOR and commercial model Cesar Eduardo "Ced" A. Torrecarrion is a Negrense actor who made his way in the world of show business.
Having the good looks, brain and good natured characteristics, Ced enjoyed his showbiz career.
He said he is in fact humbled by his gift of acting honed through hard work, dedication and faith in God.
Coming from Bacolod City, Ced has made his way in showbiz with all the challenges along the way.
He was in Bacolod City to spend time with dad Cesar "Sao" Uytiepo Torrecarrion, who once served as the business manager of SunStar Bacolod years ago.
Ced played as Nico Espinosa in the popular Philippine drama series the "Ang Probinsyano" starred by the protagonist Coco Martin, playing the role of SPO2 Ricardo "Cardo" Dalisay.
After playing the role of Nico in the "Ang Probinsyano," he is currently doing a project with multi-awarded film and television actress Judy Ann Santos.
His acting and love for the arts came from his dad’s side who are related to the families of Uytiepo of Bacolod City and the Torrecarrion who are from Iloilo City.
He grew up in Manila.
When he was in college, he started doing commercials as one of the first models of the United Colors of Benetton in the whole world in 1995.
In 1996, he met Boy Abunda through his ex-girlfriend whose friend is a good friend Boy.
"Boy Abunda has asked me if I want to be an actor but I was hesitant then. And I asked my dad and my mom about it and finally they let me do what I really want because I was into theater during college days. I had my background in acting. I then became part of ABS-CBN Star Circle Batch 9 with actress Heart Evangelista, actors Dennis Trillo, Alfred Vargas, Rafael Roselle, among others," he said.
He was part of the main cast of "Tabing Ilog," a Philippine teen drama television series that was aired over ABS-CBN and they were grooming him already but then when he had a baby he went on sabbatical for seven years.
He went back to show business after his sabbatical years and after that, with God's guidance and providence, "He is giving me good blessings now, after the Ang Probinsyano, I am doing regular guest shows like 'Once upon a time' and 'Ipaglaban Mo,'" he said.
That was only two weeks ago that he played as the dad of Tony Labrusca.
Until now, he is endorsing some products like clothing and a telecommunications company.
He has a travel agency in Bacolod City and from time to time, he comes home.
The challenge that he had before when he joined show business was his Ilonggo accent just like the challenge faced by Negrense actor Joel Torre before.
"When I met Tito Joel, he told me read tabloids and say it out loud. And then I practiced the Tagalog and it helped me improve my accent in speaking Tagalog. With the competition, it is really stiff. But for me, it is how you cope with your co-actors and the production and that is why I am still in show business because if you don't humble yourself, nothing good will happen to you. You have to be you or be real with yourself or else, nothing is gonna happen to you," he said.
He learned the value of hard work and friendship from his dad. "Dad is Mr. Congeniality from the utility, security guard, people in Tiangge, poor people, he talks to them. And then, I also have a background of being a Gawad Kalinga volunteer. So, I am like a chameleon. We talked to them. Sometimes, I also talk to the president. But it is all the same. I treat them all the same. Until now, if I am here in Bacolod, I ride in a tricycle or jeepney. I don't put it inside my head. It is like a job for me."
He sees himself staying in the show business because he is a character actor that has a long life span. A character actor can act on any role or anything that you want. He says, “I can be a villain, protagonist or an antagonist. For me, if God provides me of a good role, whether outside or here, it will always be a blessing for me. Now, with my new management -- the Power House owned by Sylvia Sanchez, for almost two years now, including a group of people from ABS-CBN, they have been doing good to me.”
"I always remember Tito Peque Gallaga, the seasoned film director, the first time he saw me, he saw my eyes and then mentioned one word and that is "essence." So I could say that Negrense actors have essence when we act. We are not shallow,” he said.
