ERLINDA Lavandia defied mother time anew after scooping four gold medals in the Singapore Masters Athletics' 40th Anniversary Track and Field Tourney last weekend.

The former police officer competed in the women's 65-above category in the javelin event and bagged the top prize after besting athletes from Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

Lavandia heaved the spear to 25.65 meters defeating Indonesian Julia Jacob (14.15m), and Sri Lankan pair J.A. Jasmin (12.66m) and E.N.L. Jayanthi (10.45m).

The Filipina also won the gold medal in discus with a throw of 18.99m, 20.81m in hammer and 7.25m in shotput.

Lavandia, who is now based and training in Baguio City, has been a consistent medal hauler in international competitions.

In September 2018, Lavandia won a bronze medal in the 23rd World Masters Athletics Championships throwing the spear to a distance of 27.95 meters on her first attempt to take the bronze in the event.

Lavandia also competed and won in the Asia Masters Athletics Championships (2010 and 2014) and the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championship in 2017. (SSB)
