8 Negros Occidental cities yet to transmit poll results

AT LEAST eight cities in Negros Occidental have yet to transmit their election results following the May 13 elections.

Provincial Commission on Elections (Comelec) Supervisor Tictac Villanueva identified the cities as Talisay, Silay, Victorias, Cadiz, Escalante, Bago, San Carlos, and Sipalay.

Villanueva said the reason behind the delays are due to the 17 defective SD cards in the said cities.

"Considering that they are all cities, they need to transmit their results in order for us to proclaim the winners," Villanueva said.

Villanueva also refused to say if the proclamation of the newly elected officials will be made today, but stated it will depend on the availability of the replacement SD cards.

On Wednesday, May 15, only Fifth District Representative Maria Lourdes Arroyo-Lesaca and Board members Agustin Ernesto Bascon and Rita Gatuslao were proclaimed by the Provincial Board of Canvassers.

Villanueva said the provincial Comelec office is doing the best it can to expedite the release of the SD cards.
