Pangan: Postscripts to the midterm elections

AFTER the frenzy and clutter of the just-concluded midterm elections, we are faced with the task of reviewing our priorities, rebuilding shattered alliances and renewing our resolve to accomplish more and better this time.

And so it came to pass that the electorate, in the exercise of its electoral privilege, has rendered judgment on who are most deserving to be elected to public office.

By this time, the results may be decisive and conclusive. Elected to lead (again) the Mabalacat City Government are Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo, who will be serving his first full term and the City Vice Mayor, Atty. Geld Guttrie P. Aquino, and the new City Council slate: Win-win Garbo, Marcos "Jun" Castro, Liza Pineda, Nino "RS" delos Reyes, Dr. Cocoy Tiglao, Carl Dizon, Noel Castro, Dwight Morales, Jerry Magsino and Timmy Llanos Dee.

It was reported that Mayor Garbo and Vice Mayor Aquino led their rivals, Christian C. Halili and Boking Morales by a wide margin, effectively surpassing the votes supposedly delivered by the INC members.

It was the excellent performance and tangible accomplishments of Mayor Garbo which convinced the voters to give him and his slate clean and convincing win.

Except for some glitches of the vote counting machines and the usual confusion on the list of voters, now clustered, that brought some delay in the voting process.

In Barangay Mabiga, where I voted early morning of May 13, there were long lines of voters peering through the lists looking for their names for longer periods, but Comelec provided them guides as to where their precincts are at the entrance to the Mabiga Elementary School.

At my precinct 24, Cluster 85, seniors, PWDs and pregnant women were prioritized by the BEI team of Leslie J. Gumabon, Chairman, Regina P. Quiambao, poll clerk and Arlyn C. Santos, member.

They were helpful and were successful in staging a peaceful and orderly voting.

So, to all those who have made the elections 2019 peaceful and orderly, my kudos!
