NEGRENSE triathlete Franklin Echeverria finds his passion for the multi-sport or sports endurance as very fulfilling to his fitness, his family and circle of friends.

At the age 39 on May 17, Franklin said that being into multi-sports always gave him the feeling of being “alive” where one can go to various places and enjoy sports, sceneries and people.

Triathlon is an equalizer between the rich and the poor. “We are all equal in the field of sports,” he said.

He started his passion for sports in 1998 because of his friend John Mark Yamoyam who was then a varsity player of the University of Saint La Salle - Bacolod. He was the one who introduced him to sports.

Being a triathlete, he is into swimming, biking and running until now.

His feats in triathlon were the Guimaras Mangoman in 2012-2014 as the top 3 overall winner; Mangoman 2015, overall champion; Basay sprint triathlon 2016 over-all champion; 1st Iloilo Dinagyang sprint triathlon 2013, overall champion; 1st Manapla duathlon 2013, overall champion.

He has a daughter Geo Macca with partner in life Bang Agustin who also developed an interest in sports at a very young age.

As he celebrates his birthday Friday, May 17, he wished to maintain his fitness and his passion for sports, and enjoy the love of his family and friends.

He has instilled to his family that sports can help them in terms of time management, physical fitness and sportsmanship.

He also encouraged others to indulge in sports because this is one good way to maintain good health and positive disposition towards life.
