THE Cebu City Local Governance Transition Team (LGTT) will meet on Friday, May 17, to convene and discuss the smooth transition to the incoming administration of Mayor-elect Edgardo Labella.
Mayor Tomas Osmeña issued Executive Order (EO) 048 creating the LGTT in compliance with Memorandum Circular 2019-39 dated March 13, 2019 of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) enjoining all local chief executives to create a transition team.
Osmeña, as mayor, will serve as chairman of the LGTT. A vice chairman will be elected among the members, who are the department heads and representatives of the DILG and a civil society organization or people’s organization.
City Administrator Nigel Paul Villarete said the meeting will make sure that what is required by law, including the turnover of important documents and other reports, will be followed.
Villarete will represent the mayor in the meeting.
“I will have to require all the department heads and officers -in-charge to comply with all the requirements of DILG. And in accordance with the EO, there will be official turnover of these documents by June 30,” he said.
Meanwhile, around 75,000 qualified senior citizens will get their financial assistance from the City Government on Saturday, May 18.
Flora Bartolome, officer-in-charge of the Department of Social Welfare and Services, said each of the qualified seniors will get P2,000 in cash aid, which represents their assistance for the months of April and May.
The distribution will be made simultaneously in different barangays starting at 7 a.m., she said.
On Tuesday, May 21, all qualified persons with disabilities (PWD) will also get their financial assistance from the City.
The distribution will also be made simultaneously in the 80 barangays.
Each PWD will get P2,000 in cash aid, which represents their two months’ financial assistance from the city. (RVC)
