SOME candidates in Bacolod City already started to remove their tarpaulins and other campaign materials posted in the 61 barangays in the city.

Reelected Vice-Mayor El Cid Familiaran said his supporters started removing his tarpaulins since Tuesday, May 14, especially those posted in the highways.

He said some members of Grupo Progreso also removed their tarpaulins, streamers or posters in the various areas.

“I encourage all the candidates to remove our tarpaulins to maintain the cleanliness in our city. It’s our obligation to remove it,” he added.

Familiaran is also hopeful that their supporters and leaders in the 61 barangays will voluntarily remove their tarpaulins within their areas of jurisdiction.

For her part, reelected Councilor Cindy Rojas said that her team also started removing her tarpaulins on Tuesday.

“Hopefully, in four days operation we can remove all of our tarpaulins in the 61 barangays. We put this (tarpaulins) so we should also be responsible to remove it to maintain the cleanliness in our city,” she said.

Rojas will donate the tarpaulins to a livelihood organization in Bacolod to recycle it into an eco-bag. (MAP)
