Bacolod all set for 2nd Inasal Festival on May 25

THE City Government of Bacolod is all set for the second year staging of the Chicken Inasal Festival on May 25.

Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairperson of the Inasal Festival, said the grilling ceremony will be held at the Araneta Street from Diamond Jubilee Tower towards San Sebastian Street.

She said they already received 25 chicken inasal vendors to join the grilling ceremony and some of them are from Manokan Country.

This will be 300 meters of grilled chicken.

Rojas said in 2018, they provided a total of 3,000 chickens, but this year, they will add more chickens to occupy the San Sebastian Street.

She said they will also hold contests such chicken fantasy contest among others.

In 2018, the City Council approved the amendment of some provisions in the City Ordinance No. 482, known as the “Manokan Country Inasal Festival” in the City of Bacolod, like the coverage of the festival and the budget.

Rojas said based on the ordinance, the city will allocate P2 million for the festival, but they will only use half of the budget for the city’s savings.

The City Government will distribute tickets to the barangays to control the crowd and it’s for free.

In 2018, the celebration was officially opened by Ambassador of Russia to the Philippines Igor Khovaev and the beneficiary of the free chicken was the street children.

Rojas said this year, the beneficiary of the free chicken will be the senior citizens in the 61 barangays.

“Every year, we are trying to target a different sector as beneficiary of the festival,” she said.

She added that they are also finalizing the guest of honor of the festival.

Aside from inasal festival, Bacolod already has the MassKara Festival, BacoLaodiat Festival, and Diwali Festival. (MAP)
