11 hurt in Northern Samar road mishap

A VEHICULAR accident has injured 11 persons in San Roque town in Northern Samar.

Authorities said the incident took place around 8:15 p.m. Thursday, May 16, along the national highway in Barangay Dale, San Roque.

Responding personnel from San Roque Municipal Police Station said the vehicular accident involved a Nissan Urban with four persons onboard and an XRM Honda motorcycle with seven people onboard.

The driver of Nissan Urban was identified as Gino Siervo, 49, from Barangay Coroconog, San Roque. Police said Siervo has no driver's license.

His passengers were Ruve Jazmin, 19, student; Manuel Jazmin, 11; and Melvin Robiano, 28.

The motorcycle, on the other hand, was driven by Rudy Mejos, 42, also a resident of Barangay Dale, with passengers Ariel Perez, 23; Reniel Adane, 14; Renel Adane, 16; Elias Adane, 21; Eduardo Morillo, 16; and Jayson Castillo, 18.

Initial investigation revealed that both vehicles were traveling in the same direction heading toward San Roque proper.

Upon reaching the place of incident, the motorcycle, loaded with water melon on the back carrier, was accidentally bumped by the tailing Nissan Urban.

Both vehicles incurred damage, the same with the drivers and their passengers who sustained injuries.

They were rushed to the Northern Samar Provincial Hospital, St. Scholastica Medical Center, Catarman Doctors Hospital and San Roque Rural Heath Unit for medical attention.
