2 crime syndicate members nabbed in Zambo Sur

TWO suspected members of a crime syndicate were arrested in a law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a top police official said Friday, May 17.

Emmanuel Licup, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as Monib Enriquez, 31; and Fajar Enriquez, 18. Both are members of the Barahama Alih crime syndicate, which is engaged in kidnapping, drug trafficking, and contract killing.

Police Brigadier General Licup said Enriquez is listed as the Top 1 most wanted person in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said they were arrested by joint police and military operatives after being served a warrant of arrest around 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Tenanvillage, Ipil.

Licup said the two have standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder with no recommended bail dated December 15, 2016 issued by the court of Ipil.

The police official said the two were caught in possession of a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition and a fragmentation grenade.

He said the suspects were placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
