WHILE the city of Minglanilla in Cebu is booming, the food scene is also thriving. Playing their part in progress, sisters Karen Michelle Gonzalez–Gubat and Kurl Monique Gonzalez–Flores decided to open a food establishment that hosts both chicken wings restaurant and a milk tea shop. This tasty two-in-one stop is located at FCT Commercial Bldg., Poblacion Ward II, Minglanilla.
On the ground floor of the building is Ochado To Go Minglanilla, the first premium milk tea house in Minglanilla. According to Karen, Ochado’s concept is a to-go and delivery milk tea business. But due to public demand, she decided to open a milk tea house in the area instead, while the brand still continues to deliver milk teas to its growing clientele.
On the second floor is Pockets, a chicken wing place that aims to fill the hungry appetites of the Minglanillahanons. Pockets offers unlimited chicken wings, special shrimps, potato wedges, jalapeño, sandwiches and burgers.
The chicken wings, served on a wooden plate, come in five flavor choices: “Oh no, Buffalo!,” “Lemme Lemon,” “How ‘bout Honey,” “Kurl’s Classic” and “Gaga Garlic.” All these flavors were inspired by Kurl’s favorite chicken wings house in the States.
“Our goal was to provide a cozy hangout place for the people here in Minglanilla. It has been a struggle for us to find a place to chill out and satisfy our cravings. We need to travel for hours and brave the traffic just to eat out,” said Kurl.
Pockets + Ochado Minglanilla is open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day.
