Digital YouthCon South launches 1st Sprint, partners with academe in VisMin student competition

ALREADY the Philippines’ most anticipated annual learning event, the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines’s (IMMAP) Digital Congress, is fast becoming an Asia-Pacific target for marketing professionals. It’s mini-me, the Digital Youth Congress designed for the academe and young professionals, is doing a good job catching up.

Debuting its highly anticipated south leg in Cebu, DigiCon South will be at the City Sports Club Cebu, May 30-31. Digital YouthCon will be at Seda Hotel Cebu, May 31.

Launching as well is IMMAP Sprint: The Digital Marketing and Creative Student Competition. The competition is co-organized with the 4th Digital Marketing Competition VisMin, already recognized by schools in the region for its series of successful winning campaigns.

In tandem with an already strong competition brand, Sprint promises the same pioneering spirit by introducing creativity into the scorecard for the first time. Adding creativity provides Digital Marketing Competition VisMin a new dimension beyond digital marketing excellence.

“Historically, student marketing competitions test the students’ brand and strategic acumen. But for this contest, we are putting creativity on the pedestal to develop a culture of creativity early on that should benefit the students when they eventually become professionals themselves.

“I hope the competitors see this as an opportunity to express their creative personas while solving a real marketing problem at the same time,” says Wacky Torres, IMMAP Digital YouthCon sub-committee chairman.

The competition is open to the first 20 teams consisting of registered YouthCon delegates. Teams should have six members. In the mold of international competition levels, teams will be presented a brief and will be given 24 hours to create and submit their campaign. The top five finalists will present to a jury of the country’s top digital marketing experts. Winners will be announced at the Digital YouthCon. The winning teams will receive cash prizes. The grand prize winner gets a slot in the Metro Manila competition.
