Girl talk at High Tea

EVERYONE’S abuzz about Davao’s latest, the DusitD2 and all it offers. We were more curious about the High Tea. Admit it, we’re Filipinos, we are familiar with merienda, merienda cena, pamainit, pampalamig, but high tea?

(Btw, reading up on what high tea really is, I discovered that what we had was afternoon tea.)

That’s what happens when girlfriends gather to eat: we plan on where else to eat and having high tea sounds something that would be fun.

“Let’s be English for one afternoon and enjoy our tea!” we said. Of course, we aren’t English, and so we enjoyed our coffee instead. Brewed for Trisha and myself, and Capuccino for Miggy.

So there we were, the core group composed of Miggy, Deng, Trisha, Imee, and myself, and two others – Razelle and Ikit of ABS-CBN, who happened to be with Deng earlier and wanted to tag along for a look-see. All in all, there were two from SunStar, three from ABS-CBN, Deng who used to be with ABS, and then Miggy, the organic farmer. That’s a big number for us busy folks.

High Tea can be had starting 2 p.m. at the Siam Lounge of DustiD2 in Lanang. One order comes with a cute cabinet of goodies from canapes to pastries, best enjoyed with friends while people-watching as Siam Lounge is right at the lobby and you get a full view of the people coming and going.

We’d have wanted another more but Dusitd2’s Marco Sindiong picked our bill and it’s embarrassing to get another and rack up the bill. Next time, we will sneak in very quietly! (Hello, Marco!)

But we had fun with the tour of the facilities that they offered us. That completed our lazy Saturday afternoon.

Just a brief segue to our tour... the DusitD2 rooms are definitely bigger than your usual luxury hotel rooms here in Davao City and each room has the Orange Box! Marco said the box will contain a daily surprise gift for the guests, many of which will be local crafts. Wouldn’t that be exciting?
