DAVAO

DepEd, a valued Prisaa partner

THE Department of Education (DepEd)-Davao has been supporting all major sports events hosted by Davao City such as the recent Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2019 and Palarong Pambansa 2019.

With the staging of another major sports event in the city, the National Private Schools Athletics Association (Prisaa) Games 2019 slated May 19 to 24, DepEd-Davao once again committed to give an all-out support to make the national competition successful and peaceful.

DepEd-Davao provided billeting quarters for delegates in public schools in the city. The agency assured that all the necessary facilities to be needed by the athletes and other delegates will be provided inside their billeting centers.

With over 1,200 private schools in 16 regions nationwide participating in the event, Deped 11 spokesperson Jennielito Attilo told SunStar Davao on May 16, 2019, that they will be utilizing all the schools human resource to be able to iron out the necessary preparations few days before the arrival of delegations from different regions.

“Just like in the staging of the Palarong Pambansa 2019, the school teachers, staff and personnel have been very busy in providing assistance to our delegates. We are trying to provide them the best Dabawenyo hospitality and we welcome them here in Davao,” Atillo said.

“We would like to thank their trust and confidence to Davao because it speaks of a place that is peaceful and a place that they can consider their second home,” he added.

The weeklong competition is the biggest collegiate national games of private schools in the Philippines. Among the sports events included are badminton, baseball, boxing, beach volleyball, boxing, chess, football, karatedo, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taewondo, tennis, weightlifting and dancesports.

National Prisaa secretary general Laureano “Boy” Santos bared during the Ispeak media forum that the annual games is held in Davao City for the first time in history through a bidding process. Considerations that made the city win the hosting rights are the facilities, the people and the tight security in the area.
