Risk managers gather in Manila

MORE than 300 risk professionals across the Asia-Pacific region will gather in Manila for the Pan-Asia Risk and Insurance Management Association (Parima) on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 and 22.

The conference, to be held at the Shangri-La at the Fort, will challenge risk managers to embrace a new perspective on risk, managing risks and developing themselves.

In response to the fast-changing business landscapes and to stay on top of the current business trends, the conference will focus on redefining the risk landscape, redefining the risk management approach, and redefining the risk profession, reflecting the new conference theme “Redefining Risk”.

Currently, Parima Manila 2019 has received registrations from Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc., Ayala Corporation, AirAsia, Energy Development Group, Globe Telecom Inc., International Finance Corporation, International SOS, INPEX Corporation, Makati Development Corporation, Rolls Royce, UnionBank, among others.

The keynote speakers are Tristan Aboitiz, chief operating officer of Pilmico Foods Corporation, Rizalina Gervasio Mantaring, chairman of Sun Life Financial Philippine Holding Company, Inc. and chairperson of Ayala Land’s Risk Management Committee, and Andrew Minnitt, CEO Singapore of Aon.

They will share from the senior management’s perspective their views on how disruptive technologies and sustainability shape their current risk management philosophy and practices.

Other notable personalities to grace the conference are Donald Patrick Lim, country CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Philippines who will lead an insightful discussion on risk management in the era of Digital Transformation and broadcaster Karen Davila.

Several industry key players will take part in sessions featuring topics such as Alternative Risk Transfer, Future of Work, Cyber Risks, Regulatory, Sustainability, Skilling Up and Digital Transformation.

On Tuesday, corporate risk managers may join Masterclasses comprising of five different sessions with focus on Intermediary Relationships, Risk Management, Human Capital Risks, Cyber Incident Response and Country Risk Analysis, each having deep-dive discussion among participants.

One of the highlights of Parima Manila 2019 conference is the launch of the risk management competency model. The project is one of Parima’s initiatives to continually help the profession to have a set of competencies that risk managers should acquire to ensure success in their chosen field.

Industry players such as Aon, AXA XL, Marsh, Zurich, AIG, Allianz, Deloitte, HDI, International SOS, Malayan Insurance, MetricSteam, Pioneer Insurance & Surety Corporation, Lloyd’s and Willis Towers Watson will support the event. (PR)
