TWO unidentified armed men took P3.9 million cash from a Chinese businessman in front of a fast-food chain located along the National Highway, Barangay Gredu, Panabo City on Friday afternoon, May 17.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 spokesperson Police Major Jason Baria said

Liyan Pang, 46, had just withdrawn the money from the bank when he was robbed.

Pang, owner of Zaza Agri Ventures based in Bajada, was with his driver and cashier, identified as Cristobal Larosa Matondo and Rizalyn Alameda, respectively.

They were headed back to their vehicle after eating at the fast food restaurant when the men pointed a gun at them and took the bag containing the cash.

Baria said the robbers might have spotted Pang with the money and followed the victim until they found the chance to rob him.

Police said they were not discounting the possibility that it was an inside job.

“Tinitingnan din ng investigator kung merong inside job pero sa ngayon nagko-conduct sila ng follow up investigation. Meron na rin din silang update, but we will wait further for the progress report. With regard sa CCTV wala sila makuha since ang CCTV ng Jollibee ay sa loob lang,” Baria said.

The robbers fled on a black Bajaj motorcycle with no plate number.

The Panabo police and personnel of the Provincial Intelligence Branch of Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office were immediately dispatched to pursue the suspects. (Juliet C. Revita)
