THE Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) was cited as the first region in the country to successfully transmit results in the May 13, 2019 midterm elections.

In the Recognition of Awardees for the 2019 Midterm Election Program at Camp Bado Dangwa in Benguet Province, Commission on Elections – Cordillera (Comelec-CAR) assistant director Vaneza Roncal said this was a feat for the region as Cordillera used to lag behind in the transmission of election results in the past.

“Cordillera was the first region in the country to successfully transmit the results of the whole region. It’s is a feat because normally, CAR usually is among the last regions to transmit because of the terrain but because of the cooperation of everybody, we were the first to transmit election results to the board of canvassers, aside from being the first region to proclaim all winning candidates. We are also proud that the election was peaceful despite some challenges,” Roncal said.

Based on record, Cordillera had a 70 to 75 percent voter turnout, while Ifugao and Apayao were the first two provinces to proclaim winning candidates.

Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) director Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson noted the efforts of all stakeholders for the successful conduct of the May 2019 polls in the region.

“Aside from all the stakeholders, Comelec, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) who were the main players were supported by the different agencies,” Dickson stated.

Twenty-nine various stakeholders and PNP personnel were awarded during the Monday Flag raising ceremony con recognition of key players for the 2019 Midterm Election.
