Minor, 6 others caught in pot session

A FEMALE minor and six others were arrested by police while in the act of having pot session in Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet Monday evening, May 20.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera said the arrested drug suspects were identified as Beljimar Nabus Botic, 20, and Erickson Bucang, 23, both residents of Puguis, La Trinidad; Jeric Espada Bittong, 19, a resident of Pico; Xaxunyro Ocampo, 27, a resident of Poblacion, KM6; Jideon Manzano, 49, and Rogen Castro Bangoy, 18, both residents of Betag, La Trinidad; and a female minor whose name was withheld and was taken into custody.

Prior to their arrest, a concerned citizen informed that police that a pot session was ongoing in one of the boarding houses in Betag.

Joint operatives of the PRO Regional Intelligence Division and members of the Special Drug Enforcement Unit of La Trinidad Municipal Police Station immediately conducted an operation, resulting in their arrest.

Confiscated from the suspects were 12 heat-sealed sachets containing substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Acts of 2002.

Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson, PRO-Cordillera director, said the drug bust reflects the dedication and support of the public to the police force, as well as to the marching orders of President Rodrigo Duterte to totally stamp out the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country.
