OUTGOING Misamis Oriental first district Representative Peter Unabia Wednesday, May 22, said he would consult the town mayors on the actions to be undertaken against provincial board secretary Ernesto Sotto Jr. who was declared by the board members as “persona non grata” over social media posts.

Unabia said some local chief executives told him that legal actions must be made against Sotto for allegedly posting on his Facebook account “malicious” and “defamatory” statements against Misamisnons.

“I have to consult sa mga mayores ug depende na dayon unsay masabotan sa tanan,” Unabia said.

But, he said other towns would likely adopt the resolution approved by the capitol’s legislative body last Monday which declared Sotto as “persona non grata” in the entire province.

Board Member Virginia Dumadag brought to the plenary Sotto’s Facebook posts which for her was directed to Unabia’s son, Congressman-elect Christian Unabia.

Dumadag said one of Sotto’s posts reads “Most Misamisnons are whores who spread their legs to the highest bidder.

Dumadag also said other posts of Sotto include “You will never get my respect as Congressman. You won because of money and not your qualifications” and “Drug money wins”.

But, Unabia said all expenses they incurred in the election campaign came from the donations and his income from his multi-million poultry business.

Unabia, who is elected vice mayor of Gingoog City in the recent elections, said he has never been involved in illegal business.

He also lambasted his critics for saying that he has not accomplished anything in the province’s first district.

In his three-year term as congressman, Unabia said he was able to help a lot of students through the scholarship program, put more budget in the hospitals for the health care services and other infrastructure projects.

“Ilang gilimbongan ilang kaugalingon nga kabalo sila nga naa tay daghan nahimo ug gi-deceive nila ang katawhan nga kita walay agi. With due respect akong natuman ang mandate sa katwahan,” Unabia said.

“Dili lang ko mahilig anang magpa-tarpaulin ug magpa-ground breaking kay maayo na lang ang igasto ana itabang sa katawhan,” he added.
