Ex-pros lift teams in Don Bosco Cup

FORMER PBA player Dondon Hontiveros and Jerick Canada powered their respective batches to victory in the Don Bosco Cup “Is Your Pack the Strongest?” last May 18, 2019 at the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) Gym.

Hontiveros had a double-double performance to lift Batch ‘94 to a comfortable 66-33 win over Dos Milenyos in Division 1.

Hontiveros, who played for five different PBA teams in a 17-year career, scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. The newly-elected Cebu City councilor also had two steals and a block. Vincent Ian Brigoli added 10, Rammel Guimbarda chipped in 11 and Wilbert Taborada contributed 10.

Kern Sesante was the lone Dos Milenyo player in double figures with 18 markers and nine boards.

Canada, on the other hand, had a complete overall game to help Batch 2004-2005 beat Batch 2011, 61-56, in Division 2.

Canada, who once played for Blackwater Elite in the PBA, had 19 points, seven boards, five assists, three steals and a block. Joirene Salcedo led Batch 2004-2005 with 25 markers.

Christian Rey Belloc had 18 points and four boards, while James Joseph Otida logged 13 markers and six rebounds for Batch 2011.

In other Division 1 games, InGORious Batches outlasted Batch 2001, 75-68; Batch ‘99 crushed Batch 2002-2003, 89-61; Batch ‘91 edged out Batch ‘95, 50-48; and Batch ‘98 squeaked past Batch ‘97, 49-46. (EKA)
