BTAO to implement road closure for Inasal Festival

THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will implement a road closure on Araneta-Gonzaga Streets towards San Sebastian Street during the second Inasal Festival on May 25, 2019.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, said Wednesday, May 22, that there will be a road closure along Araneta Street and San Sebastian Street from 10 p.m. of May 24 until 2 a.m. of May 26.

He said they will close the festival site at 10 p.m. of May 24 for the set-up of the railings in the area.

He added that all vehicles travelling from South, from Araneta Street will take left turn to San Sebastian Street, then left turn San Juan street, another left turn to San Sebastian and right turn to Araneta Street all the way back to destination.

Vehicles travelling from north areas will pass by Gatuslao Street going to Rizal Street or will take an option of Gatuslao Corner Burgos Street and Palanca Street.

Acebuche said a total of 100 traffic enforces will be deployed at the festival site and another 200 security forces from Bacolod City Police Office.

“We are asking the cooperation of the motorists and jeepney drivers to maintain the smooth flow of traffic in the area,” he said.

Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairperson of the Inasal Festival, earlier said the grilling ceremony will be held on Araneta Street from Diamond Jubilee Tower towards San Sebastian Street.

This will be 300 meters of grilled chicken.

Rojas said in 2018, they provided a total of 3,000 chickens, but in 2019, they will add more chickens to occupy the San Sebastian Street.

The City Government will distribute tickets to the barangays to control the crowd and it’s for free.

Rojas disclosed that this year, the beneficiary of the free chicken will be the senior citizens in 61 barangays.
