PDEA, cops nab 2 in anti-drug operation

AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) backed by policemen arrested two suspected big-time drug personalities in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a PDEA official said Thursday, May 23.

Lawyer Jacquelyn De Guzman, PDEA regional director, identified the arrested suspects as Robert Gaco, 30, and Junie España, 27, both of Zamboanga Sibugay province.

De Guzman said the two arrested around 9 p.m. Wednesday in a drug bust at a hotel at Purok Maabtikon in Paglaum village, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

She said said confiscated from the suspects were some five grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with an estimated market value of P34,000, a cellular phone, a motorcycle and drug bust money.

The PDEA official said a case for violation of Section 26 (Attempt or Conspiracy), in relation to Section 5 (Selling of Illegal Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied to be filed against the two suspects, who were detained.
