STL ‘bookies’ syndicate busted in NegOcc

FOUR persons in two towns were arrested for illegal gambling or allegedly running Small Town Lottery (STL) called bookies.

Based on police report Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 4:45 p.m. on Hacienda Paz, Barangay Batuan, La Carlota City, members of the La Carlota City Police Station arrested the suspects identified as Ma. Claudette Sayson, 40; Jolina Alusiman, 23, all from Barangay Batuan while at large was identified as Edsel Sayson, 42, tricycle driver also of the said barangay.

The apprehensions were made after the La Carlota City Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted a simultaneous anti-illegal gambling operations at Hacienda Paz, Barangay Batuan, La Carlota City, which resulted to the arrest of the suspects after being caught in the act of actually collecting/soliciting bets for STL without proper authority from the agency of Super Lucky Beagler Inc. while the driver of the motorcycle was able to escape.

Recovered from the actual possession and control of Alusiman were one pink notebook used as tally sheets for STL with written number combinations; one black panda ballpen and P60 bet money in different denominations.

On the other hand, recovered from the actual possession and control of Maria Claudette Sayson were one bundle of tally sheets placed on a wooden board with written number combinations; six pieces of assorted ball pens; one black My Phone cellular phone; one small red pouch were some of the bet money; one brown sling bag; P182 bet money in different denominations; and one unit black barako motorcycle without a plate number.

The arrested suspects were properly informed of the nature of their offense along with their constitutional rights and the anti-torture warning in the dialect that they fully understand and was placed under the custodial facility of the La Carlota Police Station for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, another suspect identified as Alfonso Pamorada was arrested also for alleged violation of Republic Act 9287 or illegal gambling in Barangay Langub Proper, Escalante City.

Based on police report, Intel Operatives of Escalante City PNP conducted stakeout operation against all forms of illegal gambling activities that resulted to the arrest of the suspect.

The subject person was caught in the act engaging illegal gambling activities locally known as Jai-Alai as collector without permit. Recovered from his possession, control and custody were one piece yellow paper with numbers combination, several tipster code name “Sular” ; one piece carbon paper and cash money amounting to P160 in different denomination.

The aforementioned suspect was apprised of his constitutional rights during his arrest. The suspect was referred to Vicente Gustilo District Hospital for medical examination then subsequently brought to Escalante City Police Station for booking and was detained at the custodial facility for proper disposition.
