TOYOTA’S best-selling multi-purpose vehicle returns with a brand-new look and enhanced features—the 2019 Avanza makes an impressive comeback.

Since its introduction to the Philippine market way back in 2006, the Avanza has established quite a solid fan base as a vehicle for families. Revealed earlier this month, the latest iteration of the Avanza is an upgrade worth the wait.

Just to trace the timeline, the second-generation Avanza was launched in the country in 2012. It was given a face-lift first in 2015, and then a second one in 2019.

Much to the delight of those who loved the maiden version, the second-generation Avanza keeps the familiarity of its predecessor but offers an elevated and refined version—case in point: the face-lift. The new split-type LED headlamps, front fog lamps, and alloy wheels make for a sleeker, sportier look.

Pop the hood open and find a 1.5-liter engine for the Veloz and G variant or a 1.3-liter engine for the E and J variants. It comes with either four-speed automatic transmission or five-speed manual transmission.

On the dashboard is a 6.8” Capacitive Touch Panel Display infotainment system with high-resolution K2 technology audio that enables 2-Phones Hands-Free and 5-Phones music streaming. Through the T-Link app, you can also mirror your smartphone.

The Avanza has a generous seven-seater cabin with spacious trunk space for large cargo. There is also a digital display for the air conditioning and added accessory connectors in the front and back rows.

Being a strong contender in the family vehicle segment, Toyota made sure to properly equip the Avanza with a solid set of safety features to make sure that any trip with the Avanza is a safe one. There are dual airbags for the driver and front passenger, three-point ELR seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX child-seat restraint system, anti-lock braking system and side mirror-integrated turn signals.

The all-new Avanza is available in six colors: Dark Blue SE, Black Metallic, Gray Metallic, Silver Mica Metallic, Beige Metallic and White. The Veloz variant also has an exclusive Dark Red Mica Metallic color.

In Cebu, Toyota has showrooms in Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Talisay City. (Photos from the internet/Carmudi)
