THE Negros Occidental High School has produced countless numbers of successful lawyers, doctors, educators, government leaders, entrepreneurs, military and police officers, priests, nurses and other medical practitioners, among others since it started to render its mission to educate the Negrense and Bacolod communities since it was established in July 1, 1902.
NOHS is a public secondary educational institution in Bacolod City that offers special program in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for the special science classes, basic education curriculum for the regular classes, special program for the arts, special class in culture and sports and the basic education curriculum for the night classes.
The NOHS Batch ‘85 is one of the many batches that continued to give back to their beloved Alma Mater headed by its president Noel Iligan.
This batch donated an NOHS marker / signage which was made of pure stainless with a mirrorized feature.
It was inaugurated Friday, May 24 with the presence of Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya, Mr. Mario Amaca, school principal IV, Edgar Velasco, NOHS GPTA, Liza Asan, Brigada Eskwela 2019 School Coordinator and the Batch 1985 alumni.
Iligan said, “It gives me pleasure to represent my batch to commemorate and honor the lasting legacy of our Alma Mater. May this new NOHS signage serves as a beacon of light for those who desire and strive for excellence and reflect how great this institution is. We seldom get a chance to make a good impression and with this signage, as we gaze up to it, we surely hope, we made good use of this chance to remember our Batch '85 by and how we always endeavor to give back to the institution that helped made us of what we are today and to impress upon those who go through this hallowed grounds that excellence, integrity and selfless service are not just impressions but lifelong legacies you will be gifted with within its sacred walls,” Iligan said.
Congressman Gasataya congratulated Batch ‘85 for this laudable project.
This shows that this batch has “walk their talk,” he said.
Gasataya was instrumental in the construction of eight school buildings.
The school officials also asked him for assistance in their plan to put up a school gymnasium where Gasataya committed to help recommend for its 2020 budget.
Mr. Amaca also thanked the congressman and Batch 1985 for their continued support to this educational institution.
Meanwhile, Gasataya administered the oath of office of Batch 1985 officers led by its president Iligan.
