THE parents of a two-month-old baby girl who was diagnosed with Craniosynostosis (right coronal and left lamboid of her head) in Tanauan, Leyte are appealing for financial help for the operation of their first child.

Maria Lynly Ecap-Nielo, the mother of baby Mary Francis, said her daughter is in need of an operation due her condition.

Craniosynostosis is a medical condition “in which one or more of the sutures close too early, causing problems with normal brain and skull growth which can lead to brain damage, complications, or death.”

Premature closure of the sutures may also cause the pressure inside of the head to increase and the skull or facial bones to change from a normal, symmetrical appearance, according to Columbia Neurology.com.

“With this condition of my daughter, it needs an operation that is costly and we can’t afford the amount for the surgery. We are from Leyte and the surgery will be held in Manila. We also don’t have the amount to transfer our baby to Manila,” said the 22-year-old mother.

“With this, we are humbly asking for your help financially that will be used to cover all the expenses that we need for the entire operation,” wrote Nielo on crowdfunding site Go GetFunding.com.

The baby was diagnosed last May 2, 2019.

The mother, who worked in a private courier company for a year now, said she has a hard time borrowing money for her child’s operation because she cannot yet avail a loan as she is still new to the job.

While her 35-year-old husband Philip, who resigned in his teaching post to try his luck but lost in the May 13 local elections, has yet to find a stable job. The couple are newly-married.

The baby’s operation will be held at the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila, said Nielo.

The family is hoping to raise over P500,000 for the entire operation expenses.
