Trade association brings 1st Digital Youth Congress to Cebu

VENTURING out of Metro Manila for the first time, the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) expands its footprint to stage the 1st Digital Congress (DigiCon) South in Cebu from May 30 to 31, 2019 at the City Sports Club Cebu.

Tagging along is the Digital Youth Congress South, on May 31, at Seda Hotel, Cebu Business District geared to spark interest in digital marketing and advertising among the Southern youth.

Part of the IMMAP Education Committee’s objectives is to arm the youth with knowledge about anything digital. Doing Digital YouthCon for the first time in Cebu moves the association closer to that objective.

“IMMAP aims for inclusivity. It is the only organization in the communications industry that has members from all sectors including advertisers, agencies, start-ups, media, content creators, publishers, game and app developers etc. We are excited to see how the Cebu youth will accept this rare opportunity,” shares Rudy Villar, EduComm Chair, and DigiCon organizing committee.

“Bringing DigiCon and Digital YouthCon to Cebu was the logical thing for us to do. If we truly want to push Philippine marketing forward into the future, going beyond the borders of Manila and connecting with the brightest students from across the country had to be done. We want to excite and inspire the students,” says Wacky Torres, YouthCon sub-committee Chair.

The team put together an awesome program featuring local and international thought leaders to cover a range of topics from improving your own Insta game to the business behind League of Legends. The line-up includes speakers from Facebook, Google and YouTube, alongside the country’s best young marketers and communicators including Margot Torres (McDonald’s), Karen Alba-Alday (Nestlé), Carla Yap Sy Su (Rappler), Justine Ferrer (Abbot Nutrition), Unilever and TBWA, and more.

Adds Torres, “Our long-term goal is to help produce digitally fluent, world-class marketers and creatives. Expanding our coverage with this event is an important first step. But to achieve our ambition, we have to find ways to engage the youth more. We’re gonna be busting our asses to make sure that happens.”
