Tomas wants cop probed for ‘owning’ P150T watch

OUTGOING Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has asked the Office of Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices to investigate the unexplained wealth of Patrolman Romil Gelogo.

In the supplemental complaint he filed against Gelogo, Osmeña said he was made aware of the police officer’s claims that the latter owns a Tag Heuer wristwatch worth P150,000.

Osmeña earlier lodged a criminal complaint against Gelogo for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) for Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or Agents of Such Person.

He also filed administrative charges against Gelogo for misconduct, violation of National Police Commission Circular 2016-002, Rule 21, Section 2 (A) (1) (g) and violation of Land Transportation Office Administrative Order AHS 2008-015, Section X (e), among others.

On the other hand, Gelogo of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 7 also filed criminal and administrative complaints against Osmeña for usurpation of official function, usurpation of authority, robbery, slander and grave misconduct, serious dishonesty and oppression.

Gelogo had accused the mayor of carnapping and robbery after the latter seized his motorcycle and other items outside the Camp Sotero Cabahug on Gorordo Ave. at dawn last May 12.

In his supplemental affidavit, Osmeña also charged Gelogo with perjury on the latter’s statement in his affidavit that he asked the mayor to issue a receipt for the seizure of his motorcycle.

Osmeña said he has witnesses to belie that.

The mayor also charged the police officer with violating Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, for driving an unregistered vehicle.

Osmeña had said that he asked for the motorcycle’s registration when he noticed that it didn’t have side mirrors. Gelogo, though, did not have it. (RVC)
