5 nabbed in Cordillera drug bust

FIVE suspected drug peddlers were collared by police in Cordillera as it intensifies its war against illegal drugs.

In a report by the Police Regional Office (PRO)–Cordillera, the arrest was made in successive drug bust operations region wide on May 23.

Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson of PRO-Cordillera acknowledged the successful arrests of drug personalities and assured the sustained the campaign against illegal drugs in the region.

“Let us not put our guards down in the illegal drugs campaign until we are sure that our children can roam the streets at night without fear of being victimized by people under the influence of drugs,” said Dickson.

In Abra, a tricycle driver identified as Deogracias Astudillo Iniol, 32 was arrested in Barangay Dangdangla, Bangued.

Iniol was caught by joint operating units of the intelligence and drug enforcement personnel of Abra Provincial Police Office (APPO), Abra Provincial Maneuver Force Company (PMFC), PRO-Cordillera Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU-14) and Bangued Municipal Police after selling a sachet of suspected illegal drugs to one of the operatives who acted as a buyer.

Confiscated from his possession were one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, P3,000 boodle money, P500 cash, a phone and the tricycle.

In Baguio City, two drug suspects were also arrested for allegedly peddling illegal drugs.

Personnel of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) and Police Station 8 of Baguio City Police Office, in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera (PDEA-CAR) arrested Allen Palangeo Saleo-an, 53, in Bontoc Village, Purok 3, Camp 8.

Kenneth Talines Bustamante, 28, was also arrested by operatives of BCPO Station 2 at Happy Homes.

Confiscated from Saleo-an were two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, while two heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, and two cellular phones were seized from Bustamante.

In Kalinga, two farmers were nabbed at Nasgueban, Magsaysay, Tabuk City Thursday afternoon.

One of the arrested drug suspect is a high value target identified as Yull Bryner Carbonel, 21, and his companion named Ferdinand Guillermo, 27.

Both were arrested by Tabuk police and confiscated from their possession were four heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, P1,000 buy bust money and other drug paraphernalia.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 were filed against them.
