A fashionable rustic wedding

A fashionable rustic wedding

I ALWAYS find weddings beautiful. And everytime I attend one, I consistently get awed by the theme the couple chose for the grand celebration of their union.

Through the years, I have observed (and you, too, for sure) that weddings have become a major fashion event for many people. No, I am not only talking about the parade of gowns and suits. Even the church and the reception venue as welll as the different wedding essentials are being transformed to be consistent with the chosen theme.

Last May 7, Laurence Paul Calaus and Karina Camille Requillo exchanged their vows to love each other forever. Their wedding was just perfect! One could really feel that every detail of the huge gathering was carefully planned. So, I sat down with the bride and asked her a few questions:

Fashion Nook: How did you come up with such a theme for your wedding? What was the motivation?

Karina: Rustic set-up has always been an eye candy to me. Its simplicity caught me and it never made me thought of any other theme for my wedding. Big thanks to my dear friend Kuya Ronald Batucan for making my imaginaton into reality. He is really brilliant and very easy to work with.

FN: How hands-on were you in terms of planning for your wedding?

Karina: Very hands-on! (Hahahahaha) Even up to the tiny detail of my wedding preps. I even made the invitation layout, printing and giveaways.

FN: How long did it take you to complete the planning stage?

Karina: Planning stage - around three to five months. If we include preps, abot jud tawon og one year. Maski hantod a day before sa kasal nag-prepare pa ko’s offerrings (It really reached a year. Even until the day before our wedding, I was still busy with the offerings). It was quite challenging since Paul is in Canada.

FN: What do you think are the most important factors to achieve your dream wedding?

Karina: First, always ask for God's guidance. Kay... trust me... dili sya dali jud (It was never easy). Constantly ask for patience kay there will be A LOT of misunderstandings, miscommunication ug unsa pang mga butang na maagi-an during preps (you would experience during the preparations). Second, eyes on your "dream wedding". FOCUS. para mapadali ang preps. Dapat kabalo pud ka kung unsa imong gusto mahitabo sa imong kasal (...to make the preparations easier. You must know what you really want for your wedding). Lastly, dapat naay CONSTANT communication with your partner. Dapat aligned ang inyong mga gusto kay after all, inyo man ng kasal. Dili lang na kasal sa babae or lalake (Be in constant communication with your partner. After all, that is your wedding). Learn also to meet half-way.

When asked how it feels being a wife now, Karina admitted that she still could not believe it.

“I’m still in awe. Wala pa kaayo naga-sink in sa akong sistema. (Hahaha) But I get kilig when I prepare my husband's breakfast and prepare his OOTD,” she shared.

“How do I intend to adjust? Ambot! (Hahahaha) But in all honesty, hagbay na nako gi-prepare ang akong self, Ate Jen, para sa mga changes,” she continued.

While she starts to live with her husband and work on her own “happily ever after,” Karina has promised herself that she will always be a hands-on wife and mom whenever God would already bless them with a bundle of joy.

Congratulations again, Paul and Karina! Keep the love burning!
