Wanted person killed in police ops

A MURDER suspect was killed after he allegedly resisted arrest from policemen at Barangay 5 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental early Monday, May 27.

The 47-year-old fatality was identified as Juelito Alcayde, 47, of Barangay San Isidro, Calatrava town.

Police reports showed that Alcayde is riding a motorcycle driven by his companion, Joebert Estimada, 25, of Barangay Rizal, when he saw policemen approaching the area past 1 a.m.

Authorities are supposed to serve him an arrest warrant with no bail issued by Judge Amy Avellano of Regional Trial Court Branch 57 in the said city.

Alcayde then allegedly fired at the police operatives which prompted the latter to retaliate. He was hit in his right arm and left leg.

He was rushed to a hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Estimada, meanwhile, is detained at San Carlos City Police Station after police recovered from him several sachets of suspected shabu and an improvised tooter.

Police recovered from the scene a .45 caliber pistol, 11 live ammunition, two magazines, and a deformed slug of the said firearm, two fired bullets of .9mm caliber, bulletproof vest, a cellular phone, and P4,280 in cash.

Also recovered was the suspects’ motorcycle used as their getaway vehicle.
