LA TRINIDAD -- With students expected to troop to schools starting June 3, an in-store Balik Eskwela "Diskwento Caravan" is set on May 31 to June 9.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Benguet Director Freda Gawisan said through the caravan, prices of school supplies and basic products will be lower, as discounts will be provided.
"We are supposed to conduct Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan in BSU. However, the schedule cannot accommodate. What we did, through our different suppliers from Manila, we have in store Diskwento starting May 31 to June 9," she said.
"Diskwento Caravan will be held in Tiongsan La Trinidad, in Campo Sioco and Harisson in Baguio City," she added.
Gawisan said another Diskwento Caravan is set for Itogon.
Diskwento Caravan was also conducted at the Benguet State University in 2018 to foster partnership with public and private sector and provide quality household and school supplies.
In the caravan, distributors, selected retailers and manufacturers sell discounted prices of commodities to the consumers and students.
Gawisan said DTI is continuously monitoring prices of school and office supplies.
"For our school supplies, we have started since last month monitoring the school supplies. We have not received new suggested retail prices on the increase of school supplies," she said.
