New MCIAA building to rise soon

THE Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) has started the construction of its P732 million administration building which will be completed next year.

Implemented by Duros Construction for a duration of 18 months, MCIAA Assistant General Manager Glenn Napuli said the building will house all MCIAA offices except the fire and security department.

He said the contractor has already accomplished one percent of the excavation job.

The new building will replace the old administration building project already started at an estimated cost of P120 million. That project was mothballed after the MCIAA spent about P40 million for the civil works because of land ownership issues as it was built near the gate of the Mactan-Benito Ebuen Air Base.

This time, the administration building will be located at the place formerly occupied by Silangan Hotel near Terminals 1 and 2 of Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

On the other hand, the MCIAA has awarded to Philjack Inc. the consultancy for design and construction management of the MCIAA 2nd Runway.

Napuli said Philjack shall submit to MCIAA the design of the project within six months, and the MCIAA shall bid out the project four months after the approval of the design. (EOB)
