Marian fashion show set in Baguio

A MARIAN celebration with prayers and fashion is up for the city.

International designer and fashion photographer Eros Goze, curator of the Marian-inspired fashion event said the celebration is a grand tribute to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

On May 31, fashion designers with a select group of models dressed in the image and likeness of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be viewed at the Baguio Cathedral grounds in a show dubbed “Santa Maria, Sabsabong ti Mayo,” led by the Archdiocese of Baguio with the city government.

Starting with holy mass at the Cathedral, a procession and a fitting coronation of the image of the Lady of Atonement will cap the event.

“It is a worth watching religious activity,” Goze said.

Goze added the month of May pays tributes to Catholic icon and through the fashion event, will showcase the Litany of the Virgin Mary in original piece by 16 of the top and up and coming designers here.

Models will parade the Cathedral grounds in haute couture inspired by the many faces of the Virgin Mary all over the world in a tribute which combines the religious traditions of the Flores de Mayo and Santa Cruzan in fashion.

The show will feature close to 40 models to portray the Queen of Angels, Patriarchs, Prophets, Apostles, Martyrs, Confessors, Virgins, Saints, Charity, Stars, Peace, Heaven, Faith, Hope, Queen Most Pure, Queen of the most Holy Rosary the Queen Conceived without Original Sin.

The image and the likeness of the Mother of Christ, Divine Grace and Mother Most Chaste will also be done with tasteful creations from the select design team with head-pieces inspired by the Marian Garments.

Portrayals of the Marian Mystical Rose, the Santa Cruzan inspired Reyna Sentenciada and Abogada will be likewise seen in grand Filipiniana inspired haute couture to fit the Marian celebration.

Aside from Goze. Other designers who will join the event are with Andrew Visaya, Ayves Oliver Calub, Pia Santillian, Jan Paul Santillian, Don Cristobal, Juliene Paran, Ces Calaguas, Hanz Jeo Rapanan, King George Bueno, Jerome Bagni, Miguel Lagasca, Karu Villanueva and Shiva Rivera.

Participating models are Kim Basali, Kristin Korrich, Neeva Commanda, Rihanna Treptor, Bree Hamada, Jomeyanne Leo, Roxie Bayens, Shauna Curran, Charlyn Daniella, Lumawig, Dolawen, Karina Anderson, Karen Navarette, Carina Carino, Marianne Javier, Rona Bermas, Kiara Rizel, Balajadia, Deena Paysec, Katherine Victa, Angel and Brenda Villanueva, Kianda Obillio, Rebecca Estrada, Alana Reday and Rhodora Ngolob.

In the Roman Catholic faith, the month of May is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary with several special Marian devotions held in the Catholic Church during the month honoring the Virgin Mary as “Queen of May”.
